      Staff, Engineer Interview

      Jun 13, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Invenergy (Chicago, IL) in May 2019

      Interview

BUCKLE UP, this is about to be a long ride. Don't bother applying to, or coming to an interview with Invenergy if you wish to be respected as a candidate. Let me first start off with, the interview process took 4+ months (from application submittal). I was first contacted by an HR rep stating that my qualifications matched what they were looking for, and that she would like to have a phone conversation. We scheduled a phone conversation, which was abruptly canceled due to a pop up meeting. We rescheduled for a later date (this process took about 3 weeks). After I passed the initial phone screen, I was invited to have a phone meeting with the Director, scheduled for 2 weeks later. This phone call was scheduled, occured on time, and went fabulously. These calls were relatively hard to schedule, as they were not respectful about the fact that I was still employed. Cue another reach out from the HR rep (a week later), where an in person interview was scheduled. I was informed that the in person interview would take either a whole morning, or a whole afternoon. First of all, I felt that this meant that I was seriously being considered for employment. I met with 8-9 people in a room where 1-2 people met me at one time. The interviews went great, and I even got a tour of the office. I was asked alot about the qualifications on my resume. When the interview wrapped up, I had a tour of the office. When I asked how many other candidates were being considered/when a decision would be made at the end of the interview, no answer could be given. I went home, wrote 8-9 thank you emails, and continued on. The first sign of disrespect, was the lack of response on thank yous. I received ONE response. But, I shrugged it off because people get busy. On the following monday the HR rep reached out and thanked me for my time and said that the team would come to a decision in about 2 weeks. 2 weeks later, I followed up and received zero response. two weeks after that, I followed up again, and got a glowing response, that I would be updated on the hiring process in the next few weeks. 4 days later, I received a generic push email stating that I did NOT meet their unique hiring needs. The problem with the process is, you're kept in the dark for weeks and weeks at a time. They're inconsiderate if you're still currently employed, and they'll drag you down to their office for 4-5 hour interviews, and $48 in parking later (no reimbursement) just to send you a generic email a month after your interview. Mind you, the position was listed as looking for a person with 1 of 3 degrees - I had 2 of the 3 degrees and "didn't meet their unique hiring needs" The point is - its disrespectful to have someone on a string for 4 months, ask them to come down for an unnecessarily long interview, and then keep them in the dark for 4 weeks. Then send them an email, stating you will be updated in the next few weeks, only to send a generic rejection email 4 days later. Although candidates are seeking employment, they deserve to have their time respected as well. Save your time and energy, and apply somewhere else. PAY ATTENTION TO OTHER BAD REVIEWS.
