      DevOps/SRE Engineer Interview

      Mar 2, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Invitae (San Francisco, CA) in Feb 2018

      Interview

Pretty standard hiring process. Received one HR call, followed by Tech Screening call, followed by final onsite call. The onsite interview was a disaster....none of the 6-7 people whom I met could clearly tell me what the role is about. They had different teams overlapping each other (SRE, DevOps, System Administrators) and not once I got the same answer of how a normal day would look like for this new person you are trying to hire. Also, I was scheduled for an interview during lunch time and having been to many interviews, Lunch interview are generally more casual and chit chat while you eat out in break room or some restaurant....however this was not the case here. I was in a Interview room with two engineers firing questions one after the other, so I just passed and asked if we can end 10 minutes earlier then scheduled time so I can have a lunch break. Who in the world schedules interview like this? Only thing good was that they had nice office and fully stacked kitchen. Anyway, next day I got the standard, we have decided to move on with other candidate email. I am not writing this just so that I was shot down but I genuinely want to help others
