I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at JCPenney (Plano, TX) in Feb 2015
Interview
Lengthy and boring, I was asked stupid questions which showed me that the interviewer had a written and very outdated sheet she was reading the questions from. She left me in the room for 20 minutes (small room with no windows and smelly), I felt like I was in those interrogation rooms I have seen in police movies.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at JCPenney in Jul 2023
Interview
JCP recruiter reached out and scheduled next interviews. They did not clearly articulate how many interviews would be required, just the next phase and during the process one interviewer would add on that they wanted me to talk to someone else. By the time I got to interview #5 I was told there would be a sixth interview. I was required to meet with one person twice. I’m not sure why they didn’t schedule enough time during the first interview to get all questions answered. The hiring manager told me prematurely I should expect an offer before all the interviews were done. After interview #5 the recruiter just disappeared. No follow up - no call, no email, nothing. Extremely unprofessional. I appreciate companies that are more transparent about their interview process, laying out expectations and the process at the beginning of the conversations and then closing the loop appropriately when needed. Just overall a very poor experience.
