      Recovery Specialist Interview

      Jan 8, 2013
      Anonymous employee
      New York, NY
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at JCPenney (New York, NY) in Nov 2012

      Interview

I applied for a seasonal position. I applied around November the middle of November and it probably took them 2 weeks to respond to me. I was actually shocked when they called. The guy on the phone told me exactly where the store was, where to come in, described everything including the big silver door that I was suppose to walk into and was very detail oriented, sounded very friendly. When I arrived I was an hour early and was unfamiliar with the area so I decided to just go in for my interview. When I walked in, the security guard seemed oblivious that there were any interviews going on and asked me for a confirmation of my interview or who was interviewing me. I honestly did not know, he made me sign a sheet and I went down. On my way down, I got lost and wasn't sure exactly where to go. There was this office looking area with a reception window but no one behind the window. I saw some one walking by, asked them for help and they buzzed me into the interview area with their i.d. I sat down and waited approximately 15 minutes before anyone from the Human Resources team even appeared and they both walked out of empty offices so I'm not exactly sure what they were doing prior, not complaining about the wait though. When they did both come out they asked us for our names, there were two other girls there sitting with me at the time and she pulled out our interview sheets from a file that was sitting by the empty reception desk, after looking at the times we were scheduled for they both stated that I was really really early . The first person seemed a little impressed , the second seemed more annoyed that I was so early. Two guys came in after me, and even though I was there before them, they were called into the rooms before me because of the times they were scheduled for, they were also late, but no one seemed to complain about that. When I finally got into the room she didn't ask me any of the typical J.C. Penney or retail job interview questions that I had prepared for extensively, and I literally had to think quick and be on my feet.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

She started with saying that she was going to ask me some general questions and not go too far in dept because this was only a seasonal hire. Q: What would you personally look for in a good sales person? A: I think that a good sales person needs to be willing to help you. Even though some one is helping you, you may not feel like they want to because they're not smiling and then you can feel uncomfortable with the person. Q: What does a good team need? List three things A: First off a great team needs a great leader and positive structure. It also needs working members who function well together . (I couldn't think of a third thing but after I said a great leader she said "that's all you need") Honestly don't remember the other questions .
