When asked about overtime availability, I explained that I always try my best to complete my assigned tasks within working hours and prefer to minimize unnecessary work outside normal hours while still fulfilling my responsibilities. However, the interviewer responded by emphasizing that my experience was still short, that there would be many things for me to learn, and questioned whether I would really be able to complete my work on time and maintain personal time after working hours. The concern itself is understandable, especially for a role supporting a 24/7 operation environment. However, the way the discussion was handled made me feel that I was being judged based on assumptions rather than being evaluated based on my willingness to learn, previous achievements, and working approach. Overall, the interview placed strong emphasis on overtime expectations and immediate operational support, while there was less focus on understanding the candidate’s background, problem-solving ability, and potential contribution to the team. Candidates should clarify the working expectations, overtime requirements, and work culture during the interview process to ensure mutual alignment.
