I actually never interviewed, although I was scheduled, then rescheduled, for a phone interview. The person I was communicating with via email (no phone calls placed by KIPP, which didn't feel very professional) and I agreed to squeeze in a phone interview the day I took my SHRM-CP exam. This was the only time I could make work, and I sacrificed last-minute study time to do it. The interviewer emailed me with short notice (one hour and 13 minutes prior to the interview) cancelling. We rescheduled for another time a few days later. The interviewer did not call at our scheduled time. I waited for half an hour, frustrated. I was very surprised that I did not receive a call or email explaining why they didn't call or even to say they'd be late. I withdrew from the process at that point, now that two attempts to complete the phone interview had failed. I actually did receive a call exactly one hour and eight minutes after our scheduled time, letting me know the interviewer had been on the road, so they couldn't call at our scheduled time. I am astounded at the unprofessionalism I experienced, which is why I ultimately withdrew. This person had a phone and my contact information, and coworkers they could have called to complete the interview with me. At my company, we pull all the strings we can to make sure our candidates get interviews in order to provide a smooth interview process. This experience left a very poor impression on me. If this is how the interview process goes, what is it like to actually work there? Do not even bother with this company.
