The interview itself went smoothly. The company is headquartered in LA, while the job location was posted as fully remote in Asia.
What was truly disappointing was when the recruiter disclosed the salary: $1,500 USD/month for a full-time, 9-hours-a-day retoucher role that requires expert-level skills in Photoshop/Lightroom, 3+ years of photo retouching experience, and strong knowledge of AI-assisted editing tools. This is a massive undervaluation well below market rate and does not reflect the complexity of the role.
Asia is not cheap labor. Location should never justify such a low offer, especially for highly skilled work that contributes directly to the brand’s creative output. Candidates who can integrate AI into creative workflows usually command higher pay — not lower.
KITSCH, please reconsider how you value your teams globally. As someone who has supported your brand in the past, this experience was deeply disappointing.
