I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at KPMG (Amherst, MA) in Oct 2011
Interview
The night before the interview, all candidates had to go to a bowling social event. I was new to the school and had only attended for a few weeks, so I didn't know my classmates, which made this event pretty horrible for me. I am pretty sure that they had decided not to hire me based on this event since I didn't fit their mold. The actual interview was pretty quick since I am pretty sure they had already decided not to hire me. This was years ago and in the long run I am glad I did not waste a precious college summer on their internship. There are many opportunities outside of the public accounting field that allow you to have a personal life outside of work!
Pretty standard for big 4, online AI interview then one group interview in case study format. If you get the invitation to group interview then you would most likely get the offer as long as you performed normally.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at KPMG (Singapore)
Interview
After submitting my CV, there was a virtual interview and they asked a market sizing question + why I wanted to join the specific department. They also asked about stuff in my CV and it was overall pretty manageable, they don't expect you to know much as an intern.
My interview process went smoothly and required little to no preparation. The questions were all general in nature and were just an overview of my resume. Very low stress interview process.
