I talked to the recruiter and then the Sr. Engineering Manager and they were both really nice. My problem with the interview process was that I submitted my code sample after the phone screen with the engineering manager and then never heard back in any meaningful way. I messaged a week after I submitted my work to see if they had reviewed my work and was told they'd get to me within a few days, after that, I didn't hear anything (it's been 25+ days since they told me that). If it's just an application, I honestly don't expect to hear back from companies, but if they ask me for a code sample that requires me to work during my free time, I fully expect to hear back. It's rather insulting to submit hard work and then have that time brushed aside with no response.
