I was very candid with him that the compensation range they were offering was quite low for the level of skill and experience and technologies they desired. However, that wasn't a big deal for me, as I've been looking for a job that offered much better work-life-balance.
The CTO interview lasted less than 20 minutes. He was smug and condescending to say the least, and his sentiment around WLB was not inline with the recruiter. Overall came across as a micromanaging "all is for the company" type of boss. I basically hung up on him.
