      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at King County (Seattle, WA) in May 2022

      Interview

Interview was overall an average experience. Standard questions and unenthusiastic, frantic panel and overall feel to the 1st round of interview but unfortunately I did not make it past the 1st round.

      Question 1

Why are you interested in the Regional Affordable Housing Planner position? What drew you to apply? This position supports King County jurisdictions in developing stronger affordable housing plans and policies. Please describe your interest, knowledge, or prior experience, if any, related to affordable housing planning initiatives, policy development, and collaboration with external stakeholders to achieve a shared objective. The position will design a system to track implementation of affordable housing plans and policies, assess performance and effectiveness over time, and compare jurisdictions to one another. Describe your experience defining benchmarks or indicators to assess policy implementation progress or effectiveness. What challenges do you see with evaluating jurisdictional performance? This role will communicate with jurisdictional representatives, the public and other key stakeholders, sometimes presenting complex and politically sensitive material orally, visually, and in writing. Describe a time when you had to present something controversial. How did you tackle that task? Share a time when you had difficulty working with a coworker, supervisor, or client on a team. Why was the situation difficult and what did you do to resolve the situation? What are some important equity considerations in measuring jurisdictional progress toward affordable housing goals? How do they relate to existing disparities in King County? After you leave today, what are the top three things you want us to have heard about who you are as it relates to this position? What do you want to make sure sticks with us about you? If offered this position, when would you be able to start? Do you have any questions for us?
