I interviewed at King & Spalding (New York, NY) in Mar 2022
Interview
I was scheduled to meet with four people. The first was HR, it was fine. The second was an associate director, who was great. The third was a director who said in mid interview I wasn’t a fit and stopped asking me questions. It was very awkward. I’ve been in this field for over 10 years and had the experience for the position and specialize in the practice area they are looking for but I didn’t answer the question exactly how she wanted. She should have continued with the interview and waited to give my recruiter feedback on why I wasn’t a fit and have the recruiter relay back to me as that’s the way that works. She asked if I wanted to continue with my interview with the next person and I declined. She then told me to connect with her on LinkedIn so she could send other jobs that would be more of a fit my way. This was not the way to handle an interview especially from someone in that position.
First step was a screening call with HR which was routine and easy, followed by calls with director/CMO level which included various behavioral questions some of which were a little idiosyncratic.
