I was called on a Thursday around 2pm and received my first interview over the phone. They asked "How would you greet someone entering the store?" "Why did you apply to Kroger?" and if I had any relatives currently working at any stores. She said I passed the first interview and would like to schedule a second interview the next day at 8am in the morning, to dress casual dress. They would do a drug screen and a conscent to background. I scheduled the appointment but had to call a few hours later to reschedule due to a scheduling conflict. They responded no problem and rescheduled for 8am the following Monday. The following Monday I arrived 15 minutes early dressed appropriately. At my second interview I was greeted by the interviewing manager and the actual store manager and asked to sit. She asked me to describe a little about myself and asked if I had any retail experience in the past 10 years. I replied no as I don't but do have farther in job history. At that time she said she wasnt allowed to hire me and she needed someone with retail in the last ten years. This was a complete waste of my time. I have an Asst. Degree in Information Management and am also a certified pipe welder. I would consider myself highly trainable individual and feel I was completely discriminated against. The interviewer had my resume and job history covering the last ten years and that simple of a screening question should have been asked over the phone to avoid wasting my time. The manager/managers in this circumstance were completely out of line and are hiring the way they wish instead of following company guidelines. They are lucky they didn't hire me or I would have taken their jobs.
