I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Kroger (Houston, TX) in Jul 2015
Interview
I applied online and waited a month without being contacted.
The application process was very tedious and time consuming, but not difficult. The personality tests and skill assessment were the longest, and most repetitive, part of the process.
When an interview was finally scheduled, the hiring manager who was supposed to interview me did not show up. I asked several employees for help and each one gave me a different story. When I spoke to the store manager about it, she said that he would not return until the following Monday and gave me his phone number so I could call him when he was available.
When I called back to schedule another interview, my call was redirected to a call center and the woman who answered the phone didn't speak English very well and had trouble understanding me. She hung up on me the first time and gave me no explanation as to why. The second time I called, she redirected me to someone in the actual store who told me that the hiring manager was not there. The second person redirected me to the hiring manager's office phone and I ended up leaving a message.
When a second interview was finally scheduled, the hiring manager, not surprisingly, was nowhere to be found. It really felt like they were going out of their way to waste my time and it didn't seem like the hiring manager took his job seriously.
I made no further attempts to schedule another interview after that and waited out the remainder of the three month period my application was still considered active without hearing back from the store. Given my experience, it is unlikely that I will apply for a job at Kroger again.
Straight forward and pleasant I wish all interviews were like this. They were thorough in explaining the job duties and responsibilities what the current situation was like and their expectations going forward
Good Job, Good People. Can build great relationships and wasn’t too hard. Pay was decent and schedule was flexible. Great for anyone looking for something that can be stable. Weekly Pay and can get vacations after first year.
very simple interview process with not a lot of surprises. I felt it was easy and was a very straightforward and right to the point interview. It did not last super long and the communication was very good from the hiring managers.
