I was contacted by a recruiter for a 30 minute interview. Afterwards I was given a disc personality test. A week later I had an interview with the VP’s. It went well so I was asked to move forward to the next step, which was to provide three professional references. The VP’s informed me to make sure to tell them to expect a call. Overall this process took 4-5 weeks. Two weeks later, I asked the recruiter for follow up and was informed that the team was “still contacting references” and that there should be an update later in the week. 10 days later after no feedback I asked again for an update only to be informed that they were moving in a different direction. Come to find out, MY REFERENCES WERE NEVER CONTACTED. They were waiting weeks expecting a call that never came, Essentially wasting everyone’s time. My old manager (one of my references) gave a valid point when I told him the news “Well you probably don’t want to work for a company that operates that way anyhow. Any company that treats people that way just simply isn’t worth it”. And after reading quite a few of the reviews here essentially describing the same events, he might be onto something. Their process, at least on the recruiting/HR side, needs to be investigated and fixed because this is simply unacceptable. I honestly wouldn’t have a problem if I didn’t get the role due to a fair and legitimate process. For example, if I was actually unqualified for the position or there was just another candidate that did better than me then that’s fine. But when Recruiters lie or unfairly bring someone through the process it just seems like candidates don’t get the role because the recruiters were either too lazy to actually perform the qualifying tasks thoroughly for all candidates or just randomly picked a bunch to call and went with those candidates instead.
