      Secretary Interview

      Jan 6, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Cape Coral, FL
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Lee Health (Cape Coral, FL) in Jun 2012

      Interview

Interview process was lengthy and unprofessional. They promise you perks and then when you are hired on they yank them. They allow upper management to harass and stalk staff but have policies stating that doing that will result in termination. None of this is given to those that apply, you find out once you start. Three managers/directors that I worked under had no business managing staff, much less a herd of cattle. Good ole boy system at it's finest. I honestly thought that there wouldn't be any of this in a hospital system but found out different.

      Question 1

If I had a social media account. Only administration is allowed to have them apparently.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Lee Health in Jan 2017

      Interview

I first applied online for a Secretary position in one department of the hospital and was contacted by the recruiter about 4 days later to set up a clerical assessment. During this time, she told me about the scheduled work time and the pay range. After the clerical assessment (tests your knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel as well as your typing speed and wpm) they set up a phone interview with a recruiter a week later. The phone interview with the recruiter was the usual behavioral questions. (Tell me about a time when...) after the interview, the recruiter told me the position I applied for was filled but she was going to send my application to another department because I was a great fit and the director would call me within the week. (Never received any calls) A few weeks later, I received a call from a different department asking to schedule an interview. (HR keeps your resume and application on file so if there are positions that come up, they send it to the hiring manager) I attended the interview with the hiring managers and it went extremely well and I met all of the qualifications. After that interview, they called me back the same day to schedule a second interview with dept. directors the following week. The interview also went well and I was in the top 3 candidates. After that interview, they called me back and said I made it to top 2 and asked me to come back for another interview with a secretary which just asked me to talk about myself and in the end said I was a good fit. Overall, I did not receive an offer and thought the interview process was way too long and drawn out for a role as simple as Secretary.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. Some departments at Lee Health do take extra time to make sure the individual they hire will be the best match for them. This includes skills and behavioral match as well as a cultural match for the co-workers. When the co-workers are involved in the interview process, this is a way to give the new hire a better orientation and work experience since the co-worker(s) have been a part of the selection process and are vested in the success of that new hire. Our motto is "hire tough and manage easy". We hope you continue to seek a position with us. Secretaries fulfill a role with Lee just as important as any other role at Lee.
