I interviewed on Zoom with an HR employee as well as the employee I would be working under. It lasted roughly 40 minutes and both employees went back and forth asking me questions.
Not a bad interview process since it is more of an entry level position. I had one phone interview then one in person interview for about an hour with 3 people during that interview.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Lehigh University in Oct 2017
Interview
Let me first say that I have been applying to Lehigh University for many years. Only four months ago did I get a phone call for an interview, and for a position that is better than all the others I previously showed interest in. Obviously, they saw some experience I could bring to the table. I received a phone call for an interview with the HR recruiter about a week after applying online. My interview was two weeks later. I couldn't wait to finally and hopefully be a part of the Lehigh community. Unfortunately, the interview was odd. We went over my resume, to which the recruiter acted interested in my background but it was comically fake. All behavioral questions and some that if you said yes or no too, you wouldn't get the job (ex: Were there any tasks your manager asked you to do but you didn't want too). They were also the same basic question just asked in different ways. It's difficult to answer such questions when you already stated your VALID example 5 times prior. I was well prepared for this interview as I know many superiors that work for the university (not something I threw out there during my interview, by the way). I knew going into this how competitive it would be but I did not expect the weird vibe during the HR screening process. The vibe was insincere and I expected to speak with someone who holds an academic mindset. Knowing my interview went sour, I emailed the recruiter to ensure my interest in the position. It took almost three weeks to get an automated email back saying another candidate was chosen. My suggestion is to actually show interest in your candidates, especially if the university is relying on ONE recruiter to hire every staff member. And also, remember that some people have the skills you're looking for. The objective can be the same, but the goal is different.
