Lifespace Communities reached out to me via executive search firm Leapfrog-HR to see if I would be interested in a corporate VP role. Unfortunately, the recruiter insisted I share actual specifics of my salary and bonus amounts, while declining to share the target range for the role. It is illegal to ask for this information in 26 states (and counting) and widely considered unethical in all of them. I declined to answer (instead sharing my target range and requesting to be considered based on my high qualifications) and was summarily dismissed from the process. I encourage prospective employees (esp. at the executive level) to follow my example and seek employment at other organizations who won't resort to unethical bully tactics to reduce your bargaining position.
