      Agile Coach Interview

      Feb 1, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Detroit, MI
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at LiminalArc (Detroit, MI)

      Interview

The interview process is extensive. In the beginning, they give a feel like they are truly a great consulting firm. However, as you progress, you will realize that this is no better to any temp or vendor company that tries to find you which client site, you are a good fit and they will ask you to bring down your rate/salary depending on how much they bill to clients. Sometime they tell you that they are working to make you an offer and later they come back and say you still need to go through a couple of more interviews. In the process, there are also a couple of assessments that you are asked to take. However, you are not shared the outcome of those assessments. I do not believe this is an agile company nor lives by any agile/lean values or principles. Company seems to have a couple of folks in leadership level who have good rapport with executives at bigger companies and these folks bring in the business and I feel that is how this company survives. I am not sure if this company has a an organic growth model.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Depends on who interviews you? Most of the questions in the beginning with recruiters will be about your experience of working with senior management and Agile transformation projects followed by a couple of scenarios based question from mid level and high level associates in the company. They will also ask you to face client interview as in many temp/outsourcing companies. It doesn't depend on how well you do at every interview, they will find ways to turn the offer down towards the final stage after spending 2-3 months long process. However, if you have worked with senior management in the past and you have the potential to bring in additional business from some of your past clients, this company will hire you. Therefore, some of the questions towards the end will focus on if you are a sales person because this company doesn't have sales team and all consultants will need to work towards bringing in more revenue from existing or new clients.

We aren't your typical agile company. We have a very structured approach to our engagements. We focus on business architecture, governance, metrics and actually plan our transformation work. It's a different beast, and our hiring process is rigorous, and often catches people off-guard. We are looking for a very specific kind of agile practitioner, and lots of folks are not a good fit here. We try really hard through our process to make good hires who will work out in the long run. That said, there is no excuse for the process taking 12 weeks. During the time frame you interviewed, we were experiencing a lot of growth and had a huge backlog of interested people applying for jobs. We learned a lot from that surge and have been working constantly to shorten the process and streamline the experience. That 12 weeks wasn't working for our candidates or for us... but we have in most circumstances made it much shorter. Sorry it didn't work out for us. Hope you found a role and a company you're a great fit for.
