      Front End Engineer Interview

      Apr 13, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at LinkedIn in May 2017

      Interview

The process took 1 month since they give you the choice to select how long you want to prepare for it (from 2 weeks to 2 months). The recruiter was really nice and explained what was expected in the interview, he explained the process and how the interviews are at LinkedIn, he also shared a lot of links for preparation. The first interview is by phone and screen where you have to code, it takes 45 mins. We started late because they couldn't communicate to my phone so I had less time to solve the challenges, it made me nervous and kind of stuck in 1 question, the interviewing team was kind at the beginning and they started to become desperate because they realized I was nervous, they helped me a bit, though. I finish the second question and it was already time, so they didn't give me feedback. I got some feedback from the recruiter later.

      Interview

I applied for Front End Engineer position online and the recruiter reached out to me the next day through LinkedIn message and asked for my availability. We picked a time but she never send me any invitation and she never called, I followed up with her if she is calling and she just said do you have other availability and I provided my availability but she never called again. That was so rude and unprofessional for linkedIn!!! I am a full time employee and I have to take some time off or cancel my meetings to make that time available and you just ignore other people’s time????

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at LinkedIn (San Jose, CA) in Jul 2018

      Interview

I had 2 phone interviews. I Was rejected due to lack of JS knowledge. I think it was fair. To be honest, I have facebook and Google interviews coming up and my preparation is more focused on my algorithm skills than my JS skills. So all the basic css/html/js questions they asked before they actually started with the coding part, I missed like 70% of it. I am a React developer so I don't work with vanilla JS that often, The interview was really easy though. If you have minimal algorithm knowledge and focus on JS/CSS/HTML you will make it easy. All the questions they asked you can find on google. Nothing out of the world. My recruiter told me I was reaaalllly close to get it lol. I felt that.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

One Algorithm question with hashmap (easy). And 3 javascript event handler functions and DOM manipulation (also easy).HTTP requests, CSS preprocessors and HTML basics
