Interview
Got a call from the LinkedIn recruiter. Usual screening questions including salary expectations which I was not comfortable sharing then at the initial stage and we agreed to discuss later down the road. A member of the recruiting team then scheduled a phone interview with the team manager based in Bangalore, India the week after. On the day of the interview, the manager who was supposed to interview me was out of office so someone else stood in for her. Had about 45 mins chat on the usual behavioural questions - my background, current role, why the switch to LinkedIn etc. Pretty standard. Did not hear back for 10 days until the recruiter called and emailed me again to schedule a VC with the head of trust & safety. I asked to have a chat with the recruiter re: the salary expectations first to ensure it matches their budget bracket before agreeing to the VC. She said OK and we were supposed to have this conversation the next day. I called her at the agreed time, no answer. I then emailed her the following day to follow up and ask if this was still of interest. I never heard back then. A very poor attitude to agree to a short chat with the candidate and ghost them after. LinkedIn should review their recruiting team, just because you're a big company, it does not mean you could treat anyone as you please and that a candidate would always want to work for you especially after going through this less than favourable recruiting experience.

Interview
A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn and from there, I submitted my resume to them. It took about two weeks to hear back about an interview. The interview was with one person via zoom and lasted 30 minutes. I received an offer the day after I interviewed.
The hiring managers canceled the interview after it was scheduled. They explained since I’m not a local applicant, they won’t be interviewing me; however, they knew that prior to the interview, said they were open to remote because their office is closed until further notice due to the pandemic, and I also said I’m open to relocation. Overall, I was left with a negative impression of the company because of how unprofessionally the application process was handled.
