I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement in Apr 2013
Interview
I was already a cashier; I was pulled into the HR office for an interview with the HR manager. It was essentially the same interview I had as a cashier the year before: tell us about a time you had to work as a team to accomplish a difficult task, tell us about a time you had to work to solve a problem, that sort of thing. After that I had an interview with one of the assistant managers who asks some more position-oriented questions, like what three skills do you think a supervisor needs to have to be successful (key answer here: time management skills), and tell us about a time you took a leadership role. Also, the ASM and HRM will both ask you at the end of their interviews if you have any questions; I asked them both what they liked most about working for the company and they seemed to like that. The interviews are then both scored on a numerical basis along with your resume, which is an important part of the process, so make sure you have a resume or they won't even consider you for an interview, and make it strong and straightforward without being overly long or detailed. Lowe's has a very strict formula they must follow for hiring because they are a GSA company. To ace the interview be confident but don't be afraid to admit you've made mistakes or run into trouble in a situation before as long as you explain how you learned from it and how it made you a better employee or team player.
