I applied online for the position, and I was contacted by the HR Manager about a week later via telephone. I came in for the interview the very next day. The HR Manager greeted me first, and then introduced me to the Asst. Mgr. who would conduct the interview. He allowed me to talk about my resume and past experience first, and then he went into the formal interview questions. Definitely one of the easiest interviews I've ever been on, but I was also somewhat over-qualified for the position. I enjoyed that they focused on behaviors and situations, rather than why you left your last job. There were only about 5-6 formal questions, and then he allowed me to ask any questions. I also appreciated that they gave me a clear date as to when a decision would be made, so that I was not left simply wondering. The HR Manager called me a few days later and set up a final interview with the Store Manager. This interview was really more of a casual conversation, as there were no real interview questions asked. I talked about my experience, and he talked about the positives, challenges, and advancement opportunities within the store and company. Lowe's is still very customer service driven, but the company has begun to focus strongly on sales within the last two or three years. So if you can discuss how you use customer service to drive sales, then you'll make a great impact. They determine salary by inputting your experience and skills into a payscale program, so there is little to no room for negotiation. I received a job offer via email one day after my interview with the SM, and I came in the day afterwards for the drug screen and background check paperwork. The drug screen is oral and is administered on the spot by the HR Manager. It usually takes a few days to get the results back, and then you start orientation! The whole process was very easy, and I felt like it was one of the few companies that really valued my time.
