I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement in Mar 2011
Interview
Applied on-line; Received call and did a phone interview within a couple of days; Invited in for on-site interview within 1 week; Interviewed with HR manager for site and the Department manager;
Questions were behavioral based - Irate customer; Difficult customer; Define time you were asked to do something you did not desire to do; Teamwork example; Multi-tasking; What to do when interrupted while doing task, etc.
Challenge I percieved - I have extensive customer service with insurance commercial/ business clients with more of the contact being over the telephone. I appeared to have some difficulties giving stories that the interviewers could relate to on the retail side. Concepts the same - i.e. listening with caring attitude to irate customer; Welcome suggestions of individuals who may have been successful with retail interviews, coming from non-retail background.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Tell me about a time you dealt with a difficult customer.
I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Zephyrhills, FL)
Interview
Rather easy interview process. There were only a handful of questions that were pretty standard for a retail position. When the interview was scheduled, I was told it was one person, but ended up being another person conducting the interview, which wasn't a big deal, but when you go in to the place it's nice to ask for the correct person.
