I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Lunar Energy (San Jose, CA) in Jun 2024
Interview
I applied online and was reached out to the next day for an interview. Upon joining the Google Meet, the recruiter had his camera off and offered no explanation or let me know it was fine that I turn my camera off. This is pretty frustrating as it takes time to look presentable for an interview, so I spent the entire call looking at myself talking to a black screen. The recruited shared relevant information about the company and the interview was fine, however, it was very clear they were not really looking for a "HR Ops Specialist" but they needed more of an HRBP/HR Manager as they really have no HR presence onsite.

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Lunar Energy in May 2024
Interview
I interviewed with Lunar Energy and overall, I felt that it was a solid positive experience—especially for an up and coming startup. The overall recruiting process was efficient, engaging, and gave me good insight into the company’s culture and team dynamics. While there were some areas that could be more structured, that’s not a surprise to me considering how startup environments operate and build. I was pleased with the personal touch I encountered from every person I engaged with - it made feel right at home and more confident in my decision to pursue this opportunity.
Interview Process:
Initial Contact – Communication was straightforward, and scheduling was flexible when I spoke with the hiring team.
Interview Rounds – The process was fairly conversational rather than overly formal, which helped me get a real sense of the team. I went through a recruiting screen, followed by a hiring manager screen. There were also subsequent interviews with other internal stakeholders and a final round with the director of my department. Every interviewer was engaged and transparent about both the opportunities and challenges of the role that I was applying for.
.
Decision & Follow-Up – While startups can sometimes be a bit fluid in timelines, the recruiting team did a good job of keeping me updated and answering any lingering questions as I went through each round.
Overall Impression:
Would recommend Lunar Energy to candidates who thrive in dynamic environments and want to be part of a growing team.
