I saw the recruitment poster on the front of the store and went in to talk to the workers about it. I gave them my name and let them know i'd be applying. I applied, and a week after (when the deadline for applications ended), i got a call asking me to come in for an interview. The interview was a group one. I was called in along with 12 other girls who applied. We waited outside and got to know each other while the staff were getting ready, so by the time we started the interview, we all felt comfortable already which was great. The interview was straight forward, we were asked a few general questions about ourselves, some questions to test our product knowledge, and was told to do a few demonstrations in groups and pairs.
After that, I had gotten a call to take part in their floor tests (where you spend a few hours as acting sales associate to show them your skills). I had to sell products of course. I was supposed to only do it for an hour, but since the other girl after me didn't show up, they let me continue what I was doing since I was bringing in the sales. During this process, they brought me into the staff room to have a 1:1 chat with the store manager. She was very friendly and gave me some advice on how to get the costumers to buy more than the product they were looking for by telling them about good combo's (if you're in a group interview and have to do a demonstration, mention using a combination of products to get an amazing smell, they love that!). I did that and managed to get an extra 6 people to buy more products before my shift ended. I made about 18 sales during the two hours.
It was an overall very fun interview. I had gotten the offer, however they wanted me to work at least 4 full days a week and that wasn't an option for me since i had college, so i had to decline.
My tips for you all is to just be yourself. Don't crumble under the pressure. Be confident and know what you're talking about. Don't be afraid to ask questions and look interested and enthusiastic throughout. Good luck!
