      Software Engineer Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Lyft in Nov 2025

      Interview

Absolutely horrible experience. The interviewers were great but the recruiters were absolutely terrible. After passing the phone screen, I had coordinate a schedule for the onsite. The link for the scheduling wasn't working, and there were much back and forth with the recruiter. Every reply took weeks from their end, which usually resulted in a new link that was yet again broken. It took a month to get something on the calendar. All the while, the role was already filled. There was no communication that this was the case. So after preparing, and going through the 3 hours of onsite interviews, came radio silence. I'd reach out every week with no response. I was connected with the recruiter on linkedin, and message them directly, and there was no response. I only discovered recently that the original position was filled, which makes me wonder whether the interviews even counted towards an actual job. Recruiter didn't even have the courtesy to send a 5 second reply or a rejection email to close the loop.

      Interview

Reflecting on the experience, I gained valuable insights, even though I ultimately declined the offer. The interview started with a technical round, where I faced a coding question about finding the smallest window in a string. It hit me that this was a problem I had worked on through PracHub just days before. Following that, there was a system design question focused on creating a real-time chat system. The process was smooth, and the interviewers were approachable, making it a positive journey overall.

My experience wasn’t great with Lyft. During my system design interview, my interviewer kept silent most of the time. No communication, and he seems to end my interview session as soon as possible. Be careful about this
