      Business Role (E G Sales/Human Resources/Marketing) Interview

      Feb 7, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Lyft

      Interview

Lyft put me through 13 interviews, including 3 phone calls and 2 onsite visits that lasted several hours. Scientific studies show that after about 6 interviews, putting candidates through more and more interviews does not provide useful data points to make a more informed decision. You are just wasting people's time. Nonetheless, everyone was very polite and friendly and asked thoughtful questions. Multiple people throughout the interview process repeatedly told me I was the first choice candidate, even after the final onsite was concluded. A couple days after the final onsite, they followed up with a brief message basically saying, Just kidding! For vague issues that we could have weeded out during the initial resume screening, you actually aren't our first choice candidate. It's totally understandable to not get an offer in the end, as the market is very competitive. However, it's *incredibly* unprofessional to have multiple people repeatedly tell a candidate they are the first choice, put them through 13 interviews, then abruptly pull the rug out from under them. I would have left with a positive impression of the company if they hadn't misled me about my rank in the candidate pool. Based on this experience, I won't apply to the company in the future and will tell my extensive business contacts that Lyft's employees can be unprofessional and untrustworthy.
