      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at MUFG (Toronto, ON) in Apr 2026

      Interview

Really unprofessional and inexcusable behavior from the Canadian HR team. After my initial interview with HR from the UK, I had an interview booked with the hiring managers for April 7th, 2026. On April 6th the Canadian HR person emails me saying we have to reschedule due to unexpected circumstances. I said not a problem but please note I will be out of the country between April 13th to the 26th for a wedding. I re-booked for April 9th and HR cancelled that as well and re-sent another link. I got confused by all the cancellation/booking emails and I accidently ended up booking for the following Thursday on April 16th. However, I instantly noticed and sent an email back to HR stating that I will be out of the country and there is no way to cancel. The HR team never got back to me at all. In fact, they didn’t even read my emails, from April 6th to April 16th, no response from HR despite multiple follow-ups from me. On April 16th, 30mins before the time I accidently booked they start calling me. I’m of course out of the country and can’t pick up the phone. HRs email response was “Sorry for missing your emails/ it was routed to my other folder.” That’s it, no offer to work things out, nothing. I followed up again after that stating it will have to wait until I’m back in the country from the wedding. After that they just sent me a generic rejection email. Seems like HR just quietly covered up their mistake. MUFG thinks it’s perfectly fine to cancel a meeting the day before because of circumstances on their end, but when I have really important pre-planned out of country wedding obligations, apparently that is no excuse at all.
