Completed the second interview and received a verbal offer, HR has been constantly lifting my hope on and off for three weeks after they have offered me the verbal offer, and even told me to go for a vacation, i felt like they have put much effort to make me think my opportunity was secured, therefore I rejected offers from other companies to avoid any false promises from my end. However in the last minute they told me their strategy changed and the approved headcount no longer existed, I felt so frustrated as they could have been recalled the offer earlier without repeatedly lifting my hope and the fact that the approved headcount suddenly got cancelled sounds like there’s some inconsistency on the resource planning caused by the management (if the reason HR gave me was true), it has wasted a lot of time for both ends and this is one of the reason why job seekers tend to accept multiple offers at the same time and give false promises to companies just to protect themselves from things like this
