I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Macy's (New York, NY) in Apr 2016
Interview
The new interview questions are ridiculous, Gone are the days where you are asked the basic retail, customer service questions. You are now asked long, paragraph length questions that really have to do with life experience, not work experience.
Question like:
"Tell me a time in your life where you partnered with someone to achieve a goal and what was the outcome?"
"Tell me about a time in your life where you made a decision that affected someone negatively and what was the outcome?"
"Tell me about a time when you were made to sell a product, a idea, or project and what was the outcome?"
There were at least 2 more of these questions but I can't remember them.
I am a former Macy's employee with 7 years at Macy's and I was treated as though none of that mattered. The interviewer actually told me that my former experience and high sales didn't matter, that Macy's was only interested in me answering those long, useless questions.

Question 1
"Tell me about a time in your life where you made a decision that affected someone negatively and what was the outcome?"
Was interviewed for a seasonal position. Was told they have no seasonal positions, once they found out I was a college student. Made no sense to me quickly ended the interview.
The interview process was straightforward and fairly quick. It started with a phone interview from a recruiter or hiring representative who asked general questions about my background, availability, and interest in the role. The tone was professional but conversational, and the interviewer focused on making sure I could handle a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
I had one interview with the store manager and it lasted for about 45 minutes. The interview was all standard behavioral questions. I was offered the job on the spot.
