I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Macy's (Vancouver, WA) in Sep 2011
Interview
I applied online at the Macy's department store. Within one day I received an email asking to set an interview time (everything is done from a computer). I studied up on the company the night before and had a organized binder ( cover letter, recommendations, work/school experience, and prepared questions I had). The interviewer who ended up being my manager, was really impressed about how much I knew about the company, and how I was prepared. The interview only took maybe 5 minutes, i knew i had the job because how well I was prepared and her facial expressions. I would advise to study on the company (how long they have been in business, how much Macy's donates or tries to help organization, etc. Also i would study up on interview questions that might be asked, and practice.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me a time when you had to work with a team to make a sell.
Was interviewed for a seasonal position. Was told they have no seasonal positions, once they found out I was a college student. Made no sense to me quickly ended the interview.
The interview process was straightforward and fairly quick. It started with a phone interview from a recruiter or hiring representative who asked general questions about my background, availability, and interest in the role. The tone was professional but conversational, and the interviewer focused on making sure I could handle a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
I had one interview with the store manager and it lasted for about 45 minutes. The interview was all standard behavioral questions. I was offered the job on the spot.
