I received an online email about the job opening and I completed an application online through the Macy's website. Within 48 hours I received an automated email asking me to set up an interview and I chose a date and time from their online scheduling website. The day of the interview I went up to HR and the people that worked in that department(specifically the secretaries and such) were rude and unhelpful. They told me to go sit down and wait, which I did because I had arrived 30 minutes early. After about 20 minutes I realized that the card I was handed at the door was not in the hands of the interviewees, but the interviewers. So I went up to the same person who told me to sit down and he brushed me off right away and told me to go to the next window. A woman came over to me and I asked her if I had to hand in my card, she said yes you should have upon entering the room and I told her how someone told me to just go sit down. She apologized and within 5 minutes, I went in for my interview. It was about 15 minutes long, I showed him my portfolio which he was not expecting and asked me a few situational questions about working in a group. A time where you took the initiative, a time where someone was slacking and how you handled it, a time where you were given a job and it was not the job you signed up for. The interviewer gave in-depth description of the job, didn't tell me how much I would get paid, just that it was over $9.00/hr. The online listing said it was a part time job but the hours were actually 8:30-4:30 M-F, which was even better. The job was only lasting for a month. October-November. It was a quick and simple interview and the interviewer was personable and kind.
After a week I received an email telling me thanks, but no thanks.
