      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Macy's (Temple Hills, MD) in May 2010

      Interview

I applied online the week before leaving college at a location not far from my home. I ended up being contacted for an interview a day or two later, I set the date and time then confirmed the interview. A situation came up where I had to reschedule the interview, so I did so online. I confirmed the new date and time for the interview and arrived on time. I was asked to come to the back only to hear they were no longer hiring and to try another location. I applied to the location down the street from my home where I landed an interview with the regional manager she complimented me on my makeup and wardrobe, asked what department I would like to work in, my availability and told me I was hired. I re applied last year, went through the interview process until we got to the pay section of thr interview. It appears they pay less than when I started. I told her I made more as a on call associate, she then left the room for five minutes and explained they were no longer hiring to check another location.

      Interview

I find that the hardest decision I have to make is when I have to choose between strong team members for a promotion. There have been occasions when, even though I personally liked one person better than another, I nonetheless had to choose the other person based on their potential to assume the responsibilities of their new role. Sometimes I also had to promote younger employees over staff with seniority, simply because they were more skilled in the use of technology and more willing to work overtime. It’s never easy, but ultimately you have to think about who will be the most effective and productive in the new position.
