After I scheduled my appointment online, I came to my location I applied to. At my local Macy's, there is a specific hiring center where they interview people for the job. Since Macy's has a stricter dress code, I dressed in business casual attire, with a blue button down, black pants, and flat shoes. At the interview, there were several other people who were waiting to be interviewed. Many of the people were friends with each other and had friends who worked at the location. After being seated for 10-15 minutes, it was my turn to interview. The man who interviewed me, who I assume was a manager of the store, was pretty friendly. He shook my hand and he started by asking about my hours as well as my previous experience ( I am a full-time college student so I was mainly free on evenings, weekends, and Wednesdays at the time and at the time, I only had a high school summer internship as previous experience). This was not a problem, since Macy's mainly looks for people who have availability on weekends and holidays and does not focus on previous experience as much. He asked a lot about extracurricular activities though, and when he began asking the questions on the paper, I was a bit hesitant. Since many of the questions were based on scenarios, many of which were based on job related experiences. The interviewer even had to suggest using the debate team as an example of a team that I was part of! After the interview was over, he shook my hand and told me that it was a pleasure to interview me and that they would get back to me regarding whether I received the job or not. It turned out that the next day I received an e-mail from Macy's telling me that I did not receive the job. I was disappointed but relieved that I did not have to wait longer for a response.
