I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Macy's (Palo Alto, CA) in May 2011
Interview
First I contacted Macy's through their online application process and waited about a week before i received an acceptance email and a couple phone calls about scheduling a meeting. A week later, I was invited to an interview in the Men's Macy's building and was asked a mix of preprepared generic and improvised questions (mostly about customer issues and difficult social situations). I left not knowing whether or not I got the job. However, I received a congratulations email about another week later.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I was asked on the spot to sell the HR manager a bottle of water that was on the interview table. It was unexpected and a bit awkward, but I managed to pull it off. The manager then gave me some 'tips' on selling points.

The first interview is on the HireVue website. I was asked 6 questions. I recorded my voice responses. Later, I was told I passed the first round via a phone call from a company that conducts the second interview process. I was asked 2 questions. The last interview is in-person.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Macy's (Orlando, FL)
Interview
Virtue first. Then, at the store. Interview questions are not hard but hiring manager/s are sketchy. They posted part time positions but when I got into the interview they said their looking for people wanting full time job. So unprofessional to take my time.
I applied online. I interviewed at Macy's (Pittsburgh, PA)
Interview
Basic interview process. Applied online and was called in for an interview about a week later. Nothing crazy or out of the ordinary. No assessments needed. I talked about 2 managers.
