I interviewed at Mariner Finance in June of 2016. The interview process after I applied was quick. Within a few days I heard back from a talent acquisition manager who said the manager that would be hiring for the branch would reach out to me. She is no longer with the company, but was very kind and went the extra mile. I felt that I was in good hands with her. A few days later I received an email from him about setting up a time but it took about 2 weeks to actually get me in for an interview. He was never around to take my phone calls and didn’t reply to emails as quickly. I eventually made it in for the interview and overall it went very well. I was asked basic interview questions and gave them an insight to my colligate skills. We had a really great conversation. About a week later, I was asked to come in for another interview with the Assistant Vice President. I did not interview with the actual person whom was in my chain of command, but that is neither here nor there. We had another great conversation, he challenged me with questions and I did the same after meeting with him. I remember vividly asking “how do you remain not lucrative in this business?” As well as him confirming I would be doing a decent amount of HR work. That was my selling point because I have a bachelors degree in HRM. (HR ended up being about 25% or less of my job) What attracted me to the position was the fact that they were looking for recent college graduates that they could mold and advance within the company. So to me, I thought management experience in all aspects, learning some things in the finance industry and entry level Human Resources work all sounded fabulous to me. After I received work I was hired I was offered a competitive pay at the time-more than what most of my friends were offered right out of college including 401k, PTO, vision, dental and health benefits. I accepted the offer and was sent materials immediately to begin the background check and drug screen. I started about 2 weeks after that.
