Many months ago I was job hunting and I saw a Marriott job post on Craigslist. I responded and stated I wanted to interview for a position. I received a response quickly and was asked to come in for an interview two days later. I went to the hotel and interviewed with the front desk manager and the assistant general manager. They were both impressed with my experience (I had many years of experience) but they thought I was overqualified and they couldn't pay me the salary that I was asking for. I wasn't offered employment, but I'm glad I wasn't because with my higher education and experience, working at front desk would be a big step back for me.

2. Are you prepared to stand all day and help difficult customers?
3. Are you willing to work anytime, nights and weekends?
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Marriott International (Uniondale, NY)
Interview
The interview process was great it was professional and it was to the point. They asked me a lot of critical questions as to how would I handle situations in the hotel industry.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Marriott International (Jacksonville, FL) in Aug 2016
Interview
I only had to do one interview, during which I got to meet both managers who were super friendly. The interview felt more like a dialogue rather than an interrogation. They explained the expectations of the job and asked me a few questions about my background and experience.
