I applied for a Junior designer position and had a video call interview with the creative resource manager and a senior designer who didn’t say much, that lasted about 15 minutes. Then I came into the office two weeks later (my fault for the delay because I wasn’t available) and presented my work for 20 minutes in front of 3 people, only one of which was a designer too. They liked me but the next morning they offered me a lower unpaid position as an “intern with intent to hire,” which isnt uncommon for newly graduated designers. In the first interview I said I’d be open to that role but mistakenly didn’t ask if it was paid and only in the offer email chain did I find out interns aren’t paid.
