I was contacted via Jobvite where I initially applied and a phone interview was requested. After an initial phone screening I was invited to come in for an in person interview at their Mountain View offices. When I arrived I was promptly greeted and given a tech demo of the product. I thought this was a really nice touch and made it seem like they really wanted someone who was interested in the product, not just the job description. I was then interviewed by 3 people back to back separately. Very typical interview questions very comfortable style. First interview was the most valuable and seemed the most passionate about the role. 2nd seemed like they were trying to make things difficult with overly specific questions and just generally less than friendly demeanor. Still nothing to get worked up about. 3rd interview was actually kind of funny as they seemed as if they were told to interview with little real plan and it became a conversation about commute and local area. Upon leaving I was given a very nice Matterport mug, pen and t-shirt which I thought was a nice gesture. Overall I thought I nailed it but a week later I was told they "decided to go a different direction" via Jobvite email. I was a little confused by this but decided to let it go. Several weeks later I was contacted again saying they were hiring another fulfillment associate and if I was still interested. I was waiting on another offer from a different company but decided to hear it out. Their off was very competitive salary wise but included an initial contract period and while I was told VERBALLY it would be around 3 months the lack of distinctive end date in writing made me nervous. Additionally during the contract period I would have essentially been a (1099) independent contractor meaning I would have been responsible for taxes on my own. They gave me plenty of time to make a decision and ultimately I chose another offer. I have a lot of respect for the company, their interview process was well planned and organized. The seemed to be interested in someone who cared about the product vs just on paper experience. They generally made the process as comfortable as possible. I also respect that they actually kept and returned to on file resumes to fill new positions. They made a very fair offer in terms of salary, however I question the logic of the interim contract period.
