      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN) in May 2019

      Interview

The hiring process involves multiple stages for this position and it's helpful to really think of how you can contribute long-term to the research projects at the Kern Center for Mayo Clinic.  Mayo Clinic's history of innovation and humanitarianism is guided by the Mayo founders' primary value: the needs of the patient come first. The position I interviewed for was a position focused on optimizing healthcare delivery and you want to highlight your background and think deeply about the experiences you have in regards to the Analyst position. The interviewing process, from my experience, involves a 1-hour Skype webcam with 8 researchers/staff personnel (you know who based off the interview request) and an in-person interview to further determine if you are the best candidate. It’s a process and can take time to collectively see if the role is best for you, Mayo, and patients, but the best advice I can think of is to think of how you can best advance the fascinating and innovative research projects at Mayo by knowing the work Mayo researchers do. Mayo Clinic has a history of innovative advances in medicine (ex: first CT scanner in North America; discovery of cortisone; 1st use of lung-bypass machine for a series of operations, etc.); how do you envision advancing the field of medicine as a research analyst in the short and long term?  Furthermore, how will you pioneer the delivery of healthcare tomorrow?  The supervisor and researchers are incredibly friendly and professional, reflecting on the values of Mayo Clinic. Interviewing at Mayo Clinic is a very special experience and the campus gives a warm spiritual feel unlike anything else, from my experience.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Teamwork and collaboration and prior experience in the field are critical to advancing the three shields and interview questions are based on that, as clearly indicated by the job description. Examples of previous experiences and sharing what you learned from them can help you and Mayo see where you can work together in the future to advance medicine.
