I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at McKinsey & Company in Jul 2010
Interview
2 days of interviews. Day 1: PST (tricky!), then 2 cases. Day 2: 3 cases, including partner interview.
Each interview also had a fit section.
McKinsey was very helpful throughout the process - actually made me think that they want you to succeed. Had a pre-interview call to discuss how to prepare, and all the interviewers were very professional (with varying levels of friendliness). Got the offer call by the time I got home from the interview - based on the great experience interviewing didn't hesitate to accept.

they let you prep for cases and do what the book says. this is only a question of how hard you prepared. then they take the people one by one and repeat again and again. sometimes the people who give you interviews have been there for less time than 1 yr
