      Communications Manager Interview

      Mar 18, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Meta (New York, NY)

      Interview

The interview process started out great but then took an odd turn. I had an initial call with the recruiter where he laid out the details of the position and expressed that I had just the skill set they were looking for. He then explained that the process would be a VC with the hiring manager then an onsite interview. The next week I had the VC with the hiring manager which went really great. I got positive feedback the next day from both the hiring manager and the recruiter. The emails from both of them included an invitation for the onsite interview. This is also when I was informed that I'd be working with a new recruiter and that's when things took the odd turn. A few days later after I'd gotten all the official emails arranging my onsite interview and signed the NDA, I got an unexpected email from the new recruiter saying there had been a "huge miscommunication on their end and they wanted to do more VC interviews before flying me out for an onsite." Talk about the rug being completely swept out from under me! And this was a shift from the process I'd originally been told by the first recruiter and the hiring manager. I shrugged this hiccup off and did two more VC interviews that went fairly well. However, one of the interviewers was 15 min late for our interview that was only slated for 30 minutes. After those VCs were complete, I inquired on next steps with the recruiter only to be strung along for three weeks before telling me they "decided to go in another direction". And that news was not shared until I reached out to the recruiter for an update after oddly not hearing anything for 10 days. I then asked the recruiter for more feedback to help me know what areas need improvement, and because I was frankly still a bit confused and wanted clarity into what happened in the process, given how positive the feedback had been. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting on a response and I doubt I will ever get one. Overall, I am still grateful for the opportunity to interview and remain interested in the area I was interviewing for but their selection process and how they treat job candidates could use some major enhancements.

      Application

I interviewed at Meta (London, England)

      Interview

Poor. Waited ages for feedback. No communication between recruiter and hiring manager, super frustrating and unprofessional for a senior position. Lack of contact for a communications role in particular was really disappointing and had to go direct to hiring manager to get a response. Very poorly managed - heard the same from others who had also been through the process
