Had a phone screen with a recruiter followed by a video interview with the hiring manager for an Operations Engineer – IP & Routing role. The manager opened by saying it would be a laid-back conversation, which it was — though not in a reassuring way. He spent most of the time talking about himself rather than asking about my experience or technical background, so I left unsure what he actually assessed. He also had his camera off the entire time. At the end he told me to email him with any questions and that I'd receive an update the following week. I followed up multiple times — with both him and the recruiter — and never heard back from either. No update, no rejection, complete silence. The lack of communication was the most frustrating part. Making promises about follow-up and then ghosting candidates is unprofessional regardless of the outcome. Would not recommend applying if your time and transparency matter to you.
