I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Microsoft in Oct 2017
Interview
I applied for the Software Engineer Internship around September 2017 and I got to the first round which consisted of a phone/video interview. The recruiter asked me some facts about the company: Why do I want to work for Microsoft? What projects did I lately work on? What bad/good experience do I have while working on one of my projects. Even though I was prepared for all the questions and I answered correct and according to the topic presented, they rejected me because of the way too many applications for the job.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
In front of you are three boxes. One contains only apples, one contains only oranges and one contains a mix of apples and oranges. Each box is labeled, like this:
Box 1: “apples”
Box 2: “oranges”
Box 3: “apples & oranges”
Question: You get to choose one, and only one, box. I will remove a randomly selected piece of fruit from your chosen box and show it to you (so you can tell if it’s an apple or an orange). After that, you will be able to accurately and definitively relabel all three boxes.
Expect a lengthy hiring process that can take at least two months from start to finish. In my experience, there was approximately one month of interviews followed by another month waiting for the final decision. Be prepared for a slow timeline, especially after completing all interview stages.
