      Technology Analyst Interview

      May 28, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Redmond, WA
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Microsoft (Redmond, WA) in Feb 2025

      Interview

The interview process at Microsoft for the Tech Analyst role was thorough, well-organized, and reflective of the company’s high standards. It began with a recruiter phone screen focused on my resume, technical interests, and motivation for applying. The second round was a virtual technical interview, which included a mix of SQL and Excel-based case questions, as well as situational problem-solving related to data interpretation and business impact. I then moved on to a final round with two back-to-back interviews: one focused more on behavioral questions using the STAR method (e.g., handling ambiguity, working cross-functionally), and the other with a technical manager who walked through a real-world Microsoft product data scenario. Both interviewers were engaged, respectful, and interested in how I approached problems rather than whether I had perfect answers. Microsoft emphasized collaboration and a growth mindset throughout the process, which left a strong impression. I’d recommend preparing for both technical and product-oriented thinking—understanding how data supports decision-making is key. Overall, a great experience that gave real insight into the culture and expectations.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

One memorable question was: "How would you use data to identify and address a sudden drop in usage for one of our core products?" It was a good mix of technical and strategic thinking.
