Utterly disappointing and waste of time as they did not schedule a recruiter pre screen or any calls but sent a 6 hour case exercise that involved writing various python methods to download pdf files from a url and parse text to extract information. The case had subsequent tasks to write to a local sqllite file and also to expose the data via a fast api and create visualizations . Overall the task was pretty rudimentary for a data engineer with a few years of experience. However, the recruiter reviewed the test and chose to ignore almost all of the work to ask questions on some of the regular expressions via an email and expressed dismay that some of the fields weren’t extracted completely. After two weeks of wait, and inquiring for updates, received a generic rejection email without any further explanation or feedback on the assessment. If applying, I would definitely suggest to try to schedule a call and gauge their expectations on the role and the assessment before wasting so much energy and time on it. I would rate the interview experience very negative based on above and would recommend the company to take their candidates seriously.

First round interview was a phone call with a member of the data engineering team, who was nice, polite, and informative. No one followed up afterwards, neither the recruiter nor a team member, but the job portal does allow you to see your application status, where I was able to see that my application was "Rejected" within a few days after the interview.
