Very unprofessional experience. At first, I was excited. I had a phone interview followed by a very extensive take home test (I was given the assignment on Friday morning and it was due Tuesday morning). I sent it on Monday evening and received an email on Tuesday morning, which included verbiage that made no sense and did not apply to me. The email said “ thanks for meeting with __. They enjoyed speaking with you,” along with wanting to move forward with 2 more 30 minute interviews.” I never met with the person mentioned and no one confirmed receipt of my take home test. I had to awkwardly reply back to flag that I never met with this person, but I did send my take home test large night before. After an apology, they said the email was meant for me and that I still need to meet the team in 2 back to back interviews. I sent my availability, and funny enough, one of the calendar invites included the same person who was mentioned in the email I was confused about! Wait, it gets better! I begin my first 30 min interview, and she tells me she never received my resume. I had to email her my resume while I was on the call with her (mind you, it was supposed to be a Zoom, but she told me that she was in “workout clothes and didn’t look good, so she only wanted to do a call.” Ridiculous). The entire interview was then based on me regurgitating the information on my resume because she never even saw it or knew who I was. Half the conversation was “why did I leave film/TV” meanwhile the last job I had in this industry was over 2 years ago and I’ve had relevant job experience since. The interview spilled over 15 minutes and I had to rush into the other Zoom (it was actually a zoom lol). She never even asked me about the Take Home Test, which comprised of 6 questions (with multiple parts!) and led me to create a 15-paged presentation. She clearly never saw it. She even asked me questions directly from the take home test, which proves even further that she was incredibly unprepared and really had no idea who I was. I was blown away by the unprofessionalism. The second interview (the person mentioned in the incorrect email) however, went really well. I sent my thank you emails and 2 days go by with no update. This is right before Christmas Eve and I know people will be OOO. I then receive another offer from a different company and thought it would be a professional courtesy to let them know while also asking about my status (I had to let this company know by the Monday after Christmas). The woman tells me “Congratulations!” Followed by, “there is a final step to meet with this person. unfortunately, most of the team is out of office due to the holiday. Additionally, in full transparency, we're about mid way through our process, and are actively interviewing a few other candidates, but will try to expedite the process as much as possible.” I took that as, maybe they wanted me to stick around? I worked incredibly hard on the take home test, had an awesome interview, etc. I wasn’t about to leave my offer for something not even remotely guaranteed, though. This entire process was already 3 weeks long, and it was hard to believe that they were only “mid way.” It’s not like it was for a managerial role offering $85K or something. It was utterly outrageous. Finally, today I receive an email saying they went forward with other candidates. Not gonna lie, it felt like it might be because of me being honest about the other offer. Either way, I wouldn’t have accepted their offer after this experience. I am so glad this is over with. It was truly a waste of time and gave me insight as to how unorganized and unprofessional this company must be.
