Interview
Phone call with HR recruiter. Recruiter was "east coast style" meaning very abrupt, terse, and almost mean.
Role would have been "west coast flex time" meaning 5pm to 9pm pacific (at least) for meetings with Singapore folks. Quarterly travel to Singapore. Few people if any, are willing to work that schedule that long term. They should just hire a PM in Singapore instead.
The job as described by the recruiter did not match what was on the written job description. The written job description was too generic and the title was misleading.
401k matching yes. But no equity offered, which is a big miss for a startup and especially a self-driving car one. Would not offer a pay range, even though required to by the state of California.
I did 1 phone interview with recruiting followed by an interview with an interim hiring manager. After moving on, I did a panel of 5 interviewers for 45 mins each. Each person who interviewed me had a completely different idea of what the position was that was even different from the original job posting. When I got to the final interview with the newly hired manager that the role would report to, he didn't introduce himself and immediately questioned me about what I thought the role was. After summarizing what his team had described to me, he seemed displeased with my answer. Some of his questions felt like "gotcha" questions where no answer would be sufficient. After the 8 interviews, they said I was too inexperienced. They were looking for someone who could fix every problem in their department while doing the work of multiple roles.
