Went through 4 interviews, 2 of which were 1 person and 2 were an interviewing pair. One of the single people had a role that sounded very similar to what I was interviewing for. I had detected this in the pre-interview and asked the recruiter, and was told "you should ask about that". When I met that interviewer, he was very cagey about talking about his potential role. I directly asked him what the difference was between the position I was interviewing for and his position, and he said that one of them would have to travel a lot. One pair of interviewers sounded hostile and extremely skeptical from the start. Literally before I had even said anything other than exchanging pleasantries, they were like, "so what makes you think you are a good fit for this position?". I would say I was not a 100% overlap with the requirements but maybe 80%. I had no idea what might have set them off to think that. Another single interviewer talked about himself for literally the entire interview. It was a relief at first to feel like it was a softball interview, and then stressful when I realized that I was completely missing a chance to prove anything. After the interview process, I did not hear anything back from the company for 5 weeks. I know that some companies are slow, but this was a Director level position. I started pinging the contacts that I had in recruiting and eventually got a response that said that the main recruiting contact I had had left the company. He also informed me that I had not gotten the offer, and implied that they had decided that some time ago. That person sent me a Promo code for Nike.com, the consumer website, as a nice gratuity. Later I tried to redeem the code and found that it was invalid.
